To oil or to oil?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, so I have a shimano Vanford 4000 the 2020 version and I had a slight dilemma. So the manual advises to use grease on the line roller since it’s water sealed and is using shimano x-protect technology. Now the question I have is, after I give the reel a rinse after saltwater use do I just leave the line roller alone, or do I still add a drop of oil? I’m just worried that the oil might disrupt the grease that the roller bearing has.

thanks :)

I just noticed I messed up the title smh

A drop of oil on the roller is a good idea especially after salt water exposure and rinsing. The scenario of lubricants having adverse reactions to one another is grossly misunderstood and blown way out of proportion.
