Hello, Cherie!

Pepe Le Pew found me and said, "Hello, Cherie! It is love at first sight, no?"

He was kinda right. Even when I'm skunked, I fall in love all over again just walking through the woods.

The boardwalk came through the winter with no problems.

My pond was cold. The air was 51 degrees, but the wind blowing over the cold water made it feel colder. Still, I was happy to be there with my amor, the pond:

So, skunking, shmunking. It was good to be casting again. I started slow rolling a spinnerbait, but was rolling through too many rotted weeds. I thought a Ned bait hopped along the bottom might work with cold water bass. Nada. Same with an underspin retrieved just over the weeds. No bass, but I sure saw a lot of ducks.

I didn't launch a canoe for fear of the water's temp, so I stood on the platform on the pond's edge, which you can partly see in the bottom photo, and cast from it for about 20 minutes.

That sure is a nice bit of country you have.

And it won’t be long until you’re posting 50 fish days!

Hey at least it’s not ice anymore.  By the way how large is your pond?  Looks more like a lake!

Good to get that skunking out of the way right off the bat. Now you can just wreck  them the rest of the year!

170 acres, which means it has between 9,000 and 17,000 bass, mostly largemouth, but a few, fat smallmouth. I hope to eventually meet them all.

We can't wait until you get out in your canoe and slay them; either can you.

You're right, Alex. I am stoked to launch. This week will be cool, but next weekend, we're forecast to have a string of days in the low to mid-fifties. That might nudge a few bass to bite, but with most night in the low-thirties, I suspect that even then, the water will only be in the low forties.

bp, It is a lake. It's over 150 acres. She just calls it a pond 'cause she doesn't want to brag and hurt Bob's feelings. She calls mine a pond as well to make me feel good, even though mine is just a puddle in reality. You can throw a rock across mine. You can't fire a Skud across hers!

You're so funny, Bob, but you've looked at my pond on Google Earth and you know that it's literally called a pond, as are all bodies of water its size in New England.

Yep, I've gazed (Stared), at your pond many, many times but I'm not jealous  :sick-298:, actually I stare at Cross Pond and long for the time when I can head that way! My bucket list includes Kenora Ontario, and Belfast Maine!

Why is it Minnesota gets to be called the land of 10,000 Lakes when Maine only gets to call their lakes ponds? No matter. They are dang sure lakes to me!

@Blue Raider Bob: You're welcome anytime, Bob. I'd love to put you on 50 fighting North Country bass one morning and another 50 that evening. The kid caught the top bass at my pond and his PB (bottom bass) at his pond. His pond's bass are bigger than mine, but mine are bigger year by year, so I'm hopeful. Of course, he's long-arming his PB, so the two bass aren't that far apart, size-wise:
