Replacing a reel seat/handle?

Featured Replies

So as my title implies I’m curious how much to replace a reel seat/handle? I really enjoy a cheaper rod series from Eagle Claw and I noticed my local Wal Mart is carrying them with a new reel seat that is actually not only uncomfortable but dare I say the cheapest thing I’ve ever seen on a rod 😟 I really like this blank especially at $55.00ish and I’m kicking myself for not picking up one of the previous versions which is why I’m asking if it would be worth my while. Thanks in advance to anyone who chooses to respond.

I appreciate the offer but I’ll pass for now.

Just looked at the Eagle claw rods, the featherlight spinning has a Fuji IPS clone seat super comfortable and used by all rod companies one time or another. The casting reel seats look like SeaGuide reel seats, known to be pretty nice seats. A couple Pac Bay Minima reel seat copies in there that I have never found comfortable, no matter who made them. All in all, pretty normal for the industry, foreign and domestic. Maybe Wally World has some store specific rods built with more value components, they have been known to do that with lots of other products throughout the stores, look the same on the outside, not so on the inside.

@spoonplugger1 I have 3 of them from when Brent Chapman was on the team and they are marked as such with straight forward sea guide reel seats and guides. The new ones at Wal Mart have a cheaper version of what was found on the yellow Skeete Reese rods when he was with Eagle Claw with the double “trigger” on the reel seat It’s not the end of the world and although I would like to have a backup I can find a better rod for a few bucks more if the need ever arises.

I know this black rod.  I own 3, the blank is FIRE!
