Shimano reel parts

Featured Replies

Any websites that list parts for Shimano? Specifically looking for the Stradic MGFA handle. Shimano's website is pretty vague..thanx

Matt 5.0,

I have schematics on the 2500MGFA and the 4000MGFA....

On the Shimano® ST-2500MGFA the handle assembly part number is (RD9494).

On the ST-4000MGFA the handle assembly part number is (RD9153)

Hope this helps..

Thank you sir! Can I order direct from Shimano, or should I go through my local dealer?

Matt5.0,

If your local service guys have a parts inventory deep enough you might get it from them. Otherwise I would contact Shimano® directly and order it from them.

I hear nothing but good things about reelmech.  I need to send you some reels for service.

Robert,

I just got my 2 Shimano 200 Calais's and 2 Chronarch 50 MGs back from ReelMech today. I don't remeber them feeling this good. David will treat you right.

A happy customer

Shimano makes spare parts?  :o  I guess I'm going on what I always hear, but I didnt think Shimano even made spare parts because their reels were so great??

8-)

Until they make a self-servicing fishing reel, no matter what the MFG is..

Even GREAT reels will break down sooner or later, with out proper maintenance... :o

My reel doesn't need service...I'm just up to no good as usual. Don't tell my wife!

are the drag washers a hard install on the scorpion mg 1001's?  I hear it is nice upgrade on that reel... I'd just send it to you but I hear you don't work on the Jap model shimano's plus the fish are bite'n. :o

We just did an 80mm crank and carbontex drag upgrade on a scorp 1001. Nice reels with the new crank and added more power to the drags, with the new pads...

The drag upgrade isn't hard. Just remove everything on the outside of the crank side, pull the crank side plate, pop the main drive gear off, remove the drag pad and re-install the carbontex or x-smoothie, and then remove the lower washer from the crank stem and replace with the small washer in the upgrade set. Now replace everything in the reverse order you removed them and your done...

We have quite a few JM reels under our belt now, and feel confident when we open them up. So we are now taking on JM reels now, (but only for crank upgrades or servicing reels with no parts problems). They are even better when I get inside and start to polish any and all friction points.....:o
