9' 7wt Three Forks/Pflueger Medalist Fly Rod Combo

Featured Replies

I am looking at a 9' 7wt Three Forks/Pflueger Medalist Fly Rod Combos at Cabelas for 75.00 to use for smallmouths. Would this be a good buy?

I think you will get better responses in the section of the Forum.

Sounds pretty good to me. I just started fly fishing, or should I say attempting to fly fish last year. I take two clients that fly fish only and they let me try it. I would never admit it to my fellow guides or friends but, I really enjoy it. I bought a Battenkill Large Arbor reel last year and a Lefty Kreh rod. It is a 7wt. I cannot tell you how much fun a 3 or 4 pound smallie is. I am going to try it on largemouth this year. I live a stones throw from the Upper Potomac. I enjoyed, in the late summer, wading and fishing the grass beds in wast deep water last year. I would go by myself until dark. I enjoyed it immensely. It was good for the soul. I had three does that had gotten so used to me they would come out of the woods to get a drink and just watch me. I am looking into some other fly rods as well. They are not cheap. I think the deal you were talking about would be a excellent starter setup. Have fun and watch the trees, lol. I tell my friends that if I have a fly rod in my hand to stand back about two zip codes. :o
