me too I think.  I luckily hooked a bigger bass last weekend when I turned my back to shore and casted out into the deep, thinking, "hmmm...wonder if anyone is deep".   the tick was immediate.

got me thinking about the C-rig.  its tied on now.  1/2 tungsten and a swivel.  for the record, an improved clinch knot is not ideal for a spinning swivel.  frustration exercise.

this weekend is ocean fishing, but I'll be back.  (sick day)

hang a lure through the other end of the swivel (stick the hook through the swivel hole) if the holes are big enough. Easy little trick.  Similar one, on a double pitzen knot to an empty hook (like for a texas rig), I just hang my clippers on the hook while I tie it for just enough weight.

I've never tried it.

A couple of the smaller lakes I fish have softer bottoms, one having a ton of weeds. Doesn't sound like a good fit.

Another lake there's potential I just rarely fish it as it's difficult to fish. But it's much deeper and harder than the other two. I know dragging 10" worms can catch big bass. Not from first hand but my son's friend.
