Carolina Rigging

Featured Replies

I would like to utilize this tool more than I do no, which is rarely. I heard Hank parker, on a number of occasions say that his favorite C-Rig plastic is a lizard. Twice on his show he told a story where he and his fishing partner were fishing c rigs and one had a worm, the other a lizard. He said the lizard consistently caught more fish. Do you think this is personal confidence or do you think the profile of the lizard has something to do with it. I would think a crawdad would be a better choice though. Maybe a lizard looks more helpless and "out of its element" and makes better prey for a bass than a crawdad who is at home in the water. Or is this just me giving bass human reason...?

I think of a lizard as just another profile with some slight variation in action (vs. a worm for instance). What distinguishes the C-rig is that it allows ANY bait "free action". All soft plastics can be fished C-rigged. What I don't like is casting the set-up, especially in the wind.

personally I like crawdad type plastics or just plastic worm with a curly tail. anything to generate a type of vibration.

I think it has to do with the vibrations as well and for this reason I often use a ring fry type bait, which works well a lot of the time.

Everything I've ever used on a C-rig has worked....some better at certain times than others.

Soft plastics always amaze me....I mean, look at a French fry - - no action at all - just kind of glides around and does nothing, but I have caught the SNOT out of largemouths, smallies, and spots on that bait.

Where I fish I do catch some fish on a T-rigged lizard instead of C-rigged but I don't catch as many as I do with senkos although most times I catch less but bigger fish with the lizards but all I got is 5" watermelon seed they are strike king floating but I use em weighted I only got em cause they was on sale for .50/bag of 5 or 4 or something at walmart ;D

Whatever you do, don't Carolina rig a creature bait like a Brush Hog.

Never works.   ::D

Brad

Yeah, those suck big time on a C rig.
