Where to buy Shimano repair parts?

Featured Replies

I dropped my reel and broke the bail arm (part # 21411) on my Shimano Ultegra 2500 reel. Apparently my local reel repair guy has been cut-off by Shimano and can't get spare parts anymore. It looks like a super-simple fix, just two screws to undo and don't lose track of the washers. Where can I buy a little piece like that?

Can I just buy the little broken piece or do I really need to sign up for their service and send it in? That seems nuts.

You should be able to buy the piece. Click Shop, then Spinning Reels, then your reel, then you can select the model of your reel. Scroll through the parts list and add it to your cart.

What shipping method do you usually use when ordering from PLAT?

I just ordered almost $300cad of parts from them, and used registered airmail. Your whole package isn't fully ensured, but it's cheap to ship. If you're ordering something that is like $50 or under, there's an untracked shipping option that is even cheaper, and that's what i usually use for cheap stuff.

On my last order from Plat, shipping was $24. They shipped it FedEx. I was emailed the cost after I placed the order. I was also not given a choice on shipping. My order was $65 plus shipping.  It would have been about the same or less if I had ordered from Daiwa US but they did not have the parts I needed.

Also, I would call Shimano and tell them it broke. Maybe they can work with you on it.

Fedex, UPS and DHL are way too expensive. No reason to use any of these couriers.

Again, Plat did not give me a choice other than oking their email.

Also, checked EMS to the US for my order on Plats website,  $29.

Fedex was the cheapest to the US? That's crazy. To Canada, the cheapest shipping was like $5.

Here is Plat's shipping rates.  Registered Mail would have been the cheapest.

Not sure why but the only option for me was FedEx. I got my stuff in about a week. I placed my order on January 27th of this year.   I was sent a link in my email to pay.

Here is another odd thing in the email......

[Important]
When there will be no payment seven days or more, we may cancel an order,
without doing the preliminary announcement to you.
We appreciate your understanding.

Your parcel is shipped by DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid).

The last part has always been like that. They prep your parcel before you pay. You have a week to pay for it, and then it's shipped. Duty fees aren't paid, so you might have to pay them on delivery, which i hear never happens in the US, but in Canada we pay them 95% of the time.
