Shimano Curado and Curado DC

Featured Replies

I purchased 3 Shimano reels in the past few months. After catching a few 4lb bass the handle came off of my Curado reel. The drive shaft retainer bolt was stripped. I sent it in for warranty repair and was surprised to get a call from the repair center in California informing me that unless I paid $45.00 for a complete service my warranty would be void after this repair. I had only taken the reel out a few times and didn’t feel it needed a complete tear down so I opted for the repairs minus the $45.00 service charge. The next week the same failure occurred on my Curado DC reel. I ordered the shaft and repaired it myself. But Now, after catching two 3lb bass, the shaft is stripped again on the Curado that was just returned. Is anyone else having similar issues and has anyone else received notification from Shimano Warranty Depots that their warranties would be void, after repair, if they refused to pay for service? In addition, anyone have advice on to eliminate future failures?

Post some pics. I have a hard time believing this could happen while bass fishing, let alone happening multiple times. That said, just from watching random fishing vids on youtube, i have seen a ton of people having a bunch of issues with the curado where parts are just falling off while fishing. Going from the Curado E from back in the day, to this thing, i real something.
