New Texas rig/jig rod

Featured Replies

I fish ponds and lakes. Lots of jigs in the 3/16-5/16 and Texas rigs 1/8-5/16 or so.
I’m wanting a new 7’ rod I’m wanting to stick around that $130-150 max.
was considering another falcon lowrider like the headturner. Or a cashion element z2. Possibly a Phenix feather heavy. What’s everyone’s thoughts? Feel free to add a suggestion that I didn’t post!!!

The head turner is a good choice, but for that weight range, the swim jig is probably the better rod.  And they make it in the low rider.

In fact, I'm pretty sure you have the lowrider already in the swim jig.  What do you want the new rod to do that the swim jig isn't for those things?

I do have the swim jig and love it. I just like to carry two rods. And wouldn’t mind one with a lil faster tip than the moderate fast tip that’s all

Since you already have the Lowrider I would say save up a bit longer and move up.

Maybe a Zodias or Tatula Elite.

Any recommendations on a model?

This is where my lack of having a low rider doesn’t help.  The Cara swim jig is a fast action and I’m fully on board with that.  I didn’t realize the lowerider was a MF.  And I haven’t handled one of those to compare directly.

You might want to consider the All round fast.  7’0”, 1/4-3/4, MH, F.  If the action is halfway between the trapcaster in the bucoo and the Cara swimjig (power of the trapcaster but rod action of the swim jig) then I think that would be right up your alley.
