Hey should I pull towards or away from where the fish is pulling when fishing?

Not entirely sure I understand your question, but I generally work to keep the fish facing me.  Hooked fish seem to get off most often when jumping or running straight away.

Keep tension on the line and load in the rod... Usually that's opposite the way the fish wants to travel. and try to keep them from jumping. That's a general rule for me.

I'm trying to grasp how you pull towards something

Nonetheless, keep the rod loaded and drag set properly when fighting a fish.

From a boat, I'll stick the rod tip into water to mitigate jumping.

Jumping fish are crafty at throwing the hook.
