water inside of both waterproof light housings on trailer break lights

Featured Replies

I purchased a 2024 grizzly tracker 1754sc, probably had it out about 15 times so far and the other day I noticed a light out. I took the housing apart and there was water inside of the housing, I put new bulbs in and packed the sockets with dielectric grease I also put the dielectric grease inside of the little track that the plastic housing sits in to allegedly keep the water out. Any other ideas or tips to keep this from happening.

Thanks

I just noticed you said "bulbs" and "socket." As in incandescent lights?

I'd change those to LED. $20 online. $40-$50 in local tool store.

Water can seep in down through the wires if all else is sealed. So if it is going to get in, just make sure there is a way for it to get back out.

I just asked online search if they still make incandescent light bulbs:

"No, general-purpose incandescent light bulbs are no longer manufactured or sold in the United States."

Honestly, those rectangular ones are  quite possibly the worst tail light housings ever made. Optronics and a few others make an LED replacement with better sealing, or better yet (but a tad more work), you can get prefab light boxes that take sealed LED lights for $40-50.IMG_5719.jpeg.23ea70551deef6652c6b50dc34d3ad95.jpeg

I may look into replacing them, the light bulb housings were already corroded, didn’t bother trying to contact seller I doubt if they will do anything about it.
