Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.

I still haven't been invoiced on my tariff charges by Fedex, but they did say it might take a couple of weeks since they are inundated right now.

In light of the current ambiguity around how this process will work and what seems like fees that are in some cases exorbitant, I have decided to wait on placing any future orders until the process and fees can be clarified so I know what to expect before ordering.

Did you get a BoM (bill of materials) to see what you were charged? I’m very curious to know if they’re charging the 50% aluminum tariff or not.

I couldn't find any verbiage relating to a Bill of Materials. Only a Description of Merchandise, and no mention that I could decipher regarding a 50% aluminum tariff.

You have to request the BoM from the shipper, they don’t normally just give it to you.

Where did it enter the US?

I would think the biggest delay would be where it entered the States.

I'm pretty sure every JLS purchase I've made has used FedEx. Last order I think it entered the US through Alaska.

It entered through Anchorage, Alaska but was quickly sent over the Louisville, KY. Interesting you said they used Fedex when their website addresses they ship with UPS only. Have you ordered a rod through them?

Japan Lure Shop?

Yep, always FedEx.

Never ordered a rod, I've ordered multiple reels though and lures.

Maybe 4 or 5 orders all in the last 12 months.

Seriously, it left Japan on the 11th and was delivered on the 12th... hard to believe I know!

Went from Japan to Anchorage, then to Louisville, then to Kansas City, then to Emporia then Delivered.

I can send you the Tracking# to prove it.

That's about a few days earlier from when I ordered my rod from them. I just got unlucky I guess. I don't think I'll ever see it, and it maybe a lost.

How was the packaging of the rod by the way? I'm a little nervous if I do end up receiving it, it'll be mangled and beaten up from the day's it's been stuck there tossed around by their handlers.

The best packaging I’ve had for a shipped rod yet.  PVC tubing cut to your rod length with bubble wrap around the rod.  You should be just fine.
