I went to BPS yesterday and picked up a new BPS Extreme baitcast reel and rod for $69.00. I guess they normally sell for $149. I have only owned two baitcast reels. One is an antique Pfleuger the other was a Shimano Curado which I sold because I wasn't familiar with it and spent alot of time undoing backlash.

Anyway, the salesman explained how to set it up and adjust it and I took it out today and had a blast fishing with it. Not one backlash! I like it so much I may just pick myself up another one tomorrow.

cool man, glad to hear the feedback is positive. i just ordered the extreme lite online last week. its was $60 on sale, so the deal you got sounds pretty good (there is no bps in my area otherwise i would have gotten the combo too). what size rod did you get? i am thinking of going with a 6' M or 6'6" M 1-piece. not sure if the 6' would be too short...

The rod is a 7' M/H Extreme rod. It's a bit stiff at the base but the tip seems a bit sensitive. Not as sensitive as the 6.5' rod but I am happy with it.
