  1. Cool stuff, thanks a lot guys!
  2. i have only been bass fishing for a couple of years and have most always used rubber worms with pretty good success. i was reading on here about how good jigs work, so i tried them out, but haven't had any luck at all with them. i've been using a slow to moderate steady retrieve, or letting it fall and jerking/reeling it a bit... any suggestions?
  3. I just bought my first baitcaster and used it for the first times on saturday and sunday. Of course I got some backlashes; many minor ones and a few major ones (luckily i was in a kayak, so i could backup while letting out line to fix them). I found backlashes to be almost non-existent when I casted backhand, it was casting forehand where I had more problems. But overall I think I did pretty well and also got a lot of fishing in. The distance I got was somewhat decent and I figure it will only get better. However, the big thing for me was my accuracy was terrible; with my spinner I can hit a 2 foot circle just about anywhere, but not even close with the baitcaster. Is this generally the case that casters are less accurate? I hope not, I really hope the accuracy improves!!

  5. FYI... that coupon did work for me. I just got back from Dick's; I bought a Shimano Convergence 2-piece 6'6"M casting rod for $40, plus some other stuff and I got the $10 off... that rod is pretty sweet for $40!
  6. At the local Dick's here they have the old model of the Capricorn on sale for $60 and also the newer version that replaces that one for around $80-$100 I believe... I almost bought older one but ended up getting a bps extreme lite instead... Capricorn looked pretty decent though... Oh ya, will that coupon work at any Dick's store? Thanks!
  7. cool, thanks guys... i guess i am leaning towards the 6' just to keep things smaller for travelling, packing etc.; i just don't want to sacrifice casting distance... i mostly use worms and spinners but will probably explore other options this year as well... this will also be my first time with the baitcaster. i mostly fish from a kayak, so tight spots aren't an issue (plus i have a smaller setup for fishing trout streams). well, thanks for the help!
  8. I just purchased a BPS Extreme Lite baitcaster and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on what length rod to get. I am thinking about going with a 6' M 1-piece, or possibly a 6'6". Do you think the 6' would be too short? I will most likely be using 10 lb. line, possibly 12 lb. Also are there distinct pros/cons to 1-piece vs. 2-piece rods?
  9. cool man, glad to hear the feedback is positive. i just ordered the extreme lite online last week. its was $60 on sale, so the deal you got sounds pretty good (there is no bps in my area otherwise i would have gotten the combo too). what size rod did you get? i am thinking of going with a 6' M or 6'6" M 1-piece. not sure if the 6' would be too short...
