nearshore ocean guys. Ocea Jigger 1000 vs Daiwa Saltiga 15 ???

90% kayak fishing.  50 feet to 150 feet.   bounce ball rigs, or high load rigs (both 6oz-ish).  some jigging planned in the near future.

targeting putting it on a Slow Pitch rod.  less than 7' long.   probably some fancy PE 2-3 line.

I like a narrow spool to help me manage laying the line back down neatly on the spool.  I dont go that deep anyways.

halibut, rockfish, lingcod.   if I get lucky, maybe a salmon down the line.

I am going to Japan to buy this reel.  having a Japanese reel expert explain the nuances, I might lose some details despite my google translating kung-fu. :D

thoughts?

oh, Im grabbing a Zillion HD as well.  for science.

Nothing could be simpler than lever drag - there's just an A/R drive and a clamp drag on the lever.  No clutch - for freespool, you simply back off the lever. For casting, you use the same lever for your casting brake.

There are many good choices out there, including Avet.  I have USA-made Seigler SGN in my near offshore trolling niche.

The spool shape on this reel, and most lever drags, does a really good job of laying a tight LW to the left - if you want to keep up with it, you simply thumb the wide LW to the right.

I’m asking about the two.

Accurate SPJ reels are not made in Japan, USA reels made to order and exactly what you are looking for.

The Saltigas are great reels, but the guys that really get into toggin, snap jigging and drifting eels generally wind up with some kind of BV 300.  They're like 7ozs lighter than the tiga, 9-10oz depending on what you want and have plenty of cap, 300+ yards of #30 and more if you go with a good quality JDM jigging braid.  Functionally the 300s are great, but their looks seal the deal.  A ton of color options and schemes are available, or you can customize the color.  The silver/black, silver, straight black and gunmetal base colors look good on anything.  The gunmetal looks really good in person and matches the gunmetal Fuji guides well.  The glossy black looks sick, and the finishes are pretty tough, so as long as you don't beat it doesn't rash or gouge easily.  The green and OD green/black are slick looking.  I thought the purple base color wouldn't work.  In person it looks better and when theyre on purple dark matter, or custom rods with metallic purple wrapping, it looks great.

my target reel has been sighted...I hope to buy

the Shimano Ocea jigger 1500 Custom F.   the F stands for "IF I can find it"

I dont find myself in Tokyo that often.  even the store owner in Florida said, "oh, buy that one!!"
