Hello, not sure which part of the forum this belongs so I thought I'd try here. I read a post a few days ago about how rod socks worked so well to keep all your poles separated. It sounded good so I thought I'd pick some up. When you use them how do you keep the hooks from your lures from getting "hooked" on them? And do you use anything to protect the reels? I assume they can be used on rods already rigged and ready to go, correct?

The bass pro and cabela's socks stop just past the butt guide on 7' rods so you can still use your normal hook keeper.  On the mesh socks that flush up to the reel, you'll have to use some part of the reel.

Some people use them for transport only and some use them in the rod boxes.

I keep all of my rods in protective socks, and my reels have protective covers on them as well. I never leave hooks on my line when putting rods in the socks so I've not had a problem snagging the cloth.

All my rods are in socks and reels with cover ( I like Daiwa best )

I keep 3-5 sets in my truck, all covered but but with lure/hook and ready to rock.

Stick Jackets are awesome rod covers.

I use them anytime I store rods in my rod locker or haul them in the truck.

They are inexpensive and hooks are easily removed if they get tangled.

They are very durable as well.

The Cabelas Advanced Anglers rod covers with the PVC section goes all the way to the reel even on 7'6 rods.  The PVC section covers any lure you have attached at a keeper.  Even helps if you've got a lure hooked to the reel.
