Buzzbaits

Featured Replies

I see a buzzbait with a wire holding the blade in place in Glenn's article. Is there any advantage to this kind of lure besides the holding feature ?

it looks like it is supposed to keep the blade from getting blown out during the fight. One of first things i learned, when fishing buzzbaits, was how to re-tune them. Pike are notorious for wrecking the way they run.

Are you referring to the strike king skipping toad buzz with a thin wire connecting the top of the wire behind the blade to the wire in front of the head? If so, the design reason is to keep it from bending out when you’re skipping it all around but it will help keep it from bending out on fish too. If you’re going to fish buzzbaits, you need to learn how to tweak them to get the to run right.

It is this bait: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Strike_King_Skipping_Buzzbait/descpage-SKSZ.html?from=basres and it's designed to keep the wire from bending.
