Delaware River

Featured Replies

Anyone know the southern most part of the Delaware where smallmouth can be caught? Would like to find an area closer to home to fish for them, I live in Mays Landing.

I believe they are down to the tidal zone around Philly but practically speaking you’re going to want to be above Trenton.

Sorry don't know about smallies down that part of the river.

I just fish from the water gap north.

Shad should be there now, forsythia are just starting to bloom here in North Jersey.

Most if not all of the bass in the tidal portion are LM.

If I want SM I fish north of Trenton Falls.

I saw this post yesterday morning and said "he's crazy- we're nowhere close to forsythia's starting". I was out Wednesday evening and the woods up here are very winter still. Then I remembered that I'm right on the edge of the 'where stuff is just colder' part of NJ. So the forsythia at the bottom of the street are closed up tight but driving south just 5 miles yesterday evening had yellow bushes starting to pop open. It's amazing the difference just a few miles can make. Also says I need to get out of the house more.

Next up are the Dogwoods, could be soon.

Then that usually means gassing up the lawn mower.

@herder went down around new hope tonight. The forsythia were almost in full bloom just 25 miles south. Bottom of my street? Nothing. Pre-emergent is going down on the lawn this week. Tis the season.
