  1. Not only do Jitterbugs "flat out work" there is nothing that compares to sitting in a boat on a black moonless night and listening to the plop, plop of a Jitterbug and then the sudden explosion of a bass as it attacks the Jitterbug.
  2. Fishing a friend's pond last week. Twenty minutes all the new expensive lures......nothing. Tied on old reliable, lead jig with a grub. Eight bass and 40 plus crappies and about 50 casts. Yea, I lost the exact count but it was pretty close to being accurate. When I think of the $ I spend and all I really need is a jig!
  3. You will not be far from the Susquehanna and the Juniata. Both great SM waters. And there is the Yellow Breeches, a great trout stream.
  4. For me it depends on the depth of the water and current and the depth of the fish. If the fish are scattered throughout the water column I want a lighter jig with a slower fall. If they are on the bottom I use a heavy jig to get down faster and then there is the current which always comes into play.
  5. I troll for bass and I have often caught bass while trolling for musky.
  6. It depends on where I am fishing. If I intend to fish a lake where I know the drop shot will be an advantage I may rig ahead of time. If I am at a lake where I see the benefit of a drop shot I rig I rig on the lake. I keep a small Plano box handy with drop shot weights, hooks and swivels.
  7. It's obvious my spell check is not a fisherman. 😉 I first learned about the Magic Swimmer at a striper seminar. I cast the smaller ones but troll the bigger swimmers.
  8. I have 3 or 4 in a box of plugs I use for strippers. I never thought about using them for bass. 👍
  9. Two good responsibly priced swimbaits. I have and use both. (And I can still afford lunch and a car payment 😜)
  10. That wasn't nice. Now what am I going to do with all the old Barbeque Pringles I purchased on Ebay? 😉
  11. We don't count? My feelings is hurt.☹️ Or drag a chain. I do have a chain for the Susquehanna when it is up.
  12. I always go heavier. The winch hardware and strap are stronger giving you an extra cushion for little additional cost.
  13. The best way to fish the Susquehanna. Drift down and troll up. And the Delaware above the tidal area.
  14. Most if not all of the bass in the tidal portion are LM. If I want SM I fish north of Trenton Falls.
  15. I wish I could tell you but I cannot see any bass in the shallows up here because of the ice cover. 🤓 Maybe in another month.
  16. As others have said "it depends" and for me it depends on the situation. BTW stop that "thinking". It only complicates things. I know! 😉
  17. Mr. Twister 3 inch Ned Ringer. It's all about the tail. 😉
  18. After reading the above posts it occurred to me that I fish a lot of old lures. Maybe 30 to 40 percent of what I fish would be considered old like the Rapala, Mepps and Heddon products. But if I had to pick just one old lure it would be a 3 inch grub or twister tail. It just works for me.
  19. I have fished them a few times behind trolling weights and various sinkers. Since I could not see them I had know idea they might be swimming/floating tail up. Maybe I'll do some experimenting and try some heavy tail hooks.
  20. I scuff / stretch my neds. I started doing it after I realized my older beat up neds seem to catch more fish.
  21. The Torpedo in various sizes. Black, yellow or white belly.
  22. Harbor Freight. LED kits are $40 but individual LED light are about $17.00
  23. Add a short length of tieable wire.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to spend an hour fishing my buddies pond. After about an hour I had not caught a fish. In my bag was a pack of pink worms I had picked up at Ollies. The bag was never opened and I thought "what the heck". I caught 4 bass that day with the pink worm. I went back last week and they were not interested in pink worms. They wanted the usual green pumpkin. BTW pink and white or pearl are my favorite fluke colors.
