What is the craw brand name with air in tenticals?
These float. Because they float the pinchers stay up. I fish them on a drop shot or a ned head or ball jig.

Anybody using Marabou Jigs for bass?
A long time ago a friend took me to a small shop that manufactured small maribou crappy jigs. It was a one-man show and the owner was retiring. I purchased a 12-pack of jigs just to be "nice". About a week later the kids and I went to Ontario and fished the Ridue system. We started using the jigs I had purchased. They were incredible. We caught bass and crappy and many other species when nothing else worked. We were staying at a lodge and the kids would fish from the docks. They were constantly catching fish when others could not catch anything. The other guests at the lodge were trying to buy the jigs from us. As soon as I got home I went to the shop. I bought every jig he had. I think it was a couple of gross. I have one left. I won't fish it and keep saying I am going to copy it but I haven't. It is nothing more than a hook, split lead wire, and maribou.

Bass Attractant
I agree with this. I have 6 or 8 bottles and tubes of various scents in the boat. I use whatever I grab but I think Megastrike (hard lures) and JJ's (soft lures) work better covering up my scent and having the fish hold onto the bait longer. I also have Bait Fuel. I want to believe it works but so far it has not. Last year I decided to test it. I was fishing a small pond from a boat using Ned rigs. I took two identical TRDs and put Bait Fuel on one and fished the other with no scent. I fished both side by side. I caught 4 or 5 bass on the unscented TRD and no bass on the Bait Fuel scented TRD. The odds of catching no bass in the pond I was fishing was unusual especially when I was catching bass on the second rod. It was almost as if Bait Fuel was a repellent rather than an attractant. I do intend to try a comparison test again using Bait Fuel. I have trouble believing other's results are so good and mine rate a zero so far.

Advantages of a shorter rod?
In the late 1960's a friend recommended I buy a particular rod from Bass Pro. It was a 5'6" spinning rod advertised as a "worm rod". It was very stiff and had no reel seat. I taped the reel on. I still use that rod today. I keep it at my mountain house and it is the first rod I grab when heading out. I have caught everything on it from bluegills to big pike, musky, and lakers and I fish all kinds of lures on it from bait to big plugs. It is versatile!! I probably have 50-plus rods now but that is one of my favorites.

Jitterbug
I had a good friend who has long since passed away. We would fish a particular shallow lake all night. We both preferred Jitterbugs especially on moonless nights because they caught fish and because we could hear the chug-chug and the explosion when they were hit. Good times!!

Size braid for heavy setup?
I use 65 lb. on my heavy casting rods. I also use some of those same rods for frogging, swim baits, and large pike and musky lures. One reason I use 65 lb is so I can recover snagged swimbaits and musky lures which are expensive. And I can put much more pressure on big fish with 65 lb braid than 50 lb braid.

Jitterbug
I use them often. I have not seen another person fishing them in years. The obvious advantage is the fish have not seen it before.

the most H.P for a 14 foot jon boat
I have a 14-48 Jon in NE PA I use mostly on the Susquehanna. I have a Suzuki 20 on it and it handles the river without any problems. I do run a prop guard and the prop guard does reduce the top end but top end on the river is never something I use.

I use blades all year long in all depths. They represent a dying fish on the bottom. Fish die all year long. There is no reason to limit yourself to a few months.

Plastic Hellgrammites
Thanks guys! Most of the hellermites I trap here are dark olive, brown or black. I was just curious if some of those bright colors would work.

Plastic Hellgrammites
I see he has many interesting colors like "Electric Lime". I never fished anything like that but I wonder how the fish would react. Is there a color you recommend?

Do you have an issue with the "Flashy Swimmer"? I just purchased some from TW but have not yet received them.

Cicada Apocalypse
Has anyone experienced the white miller hatch on the Susquehanna? It is Biblical! I was in a gas station on the river near Duncannon when one took place. It was so thick you could not see. People were panicking and screaming. It was amusing but not for those who had no idea what they were experiencing.

Baits you plan on trying this year.
I purchased some 2.8 and 3.8 bellows gills to try. After I got them I realized that the 2" would be great for BFS and drop-shot. Now I have all three sizes and I am looking forward to trying them all.

Rebel history topic
I still fish with some older Rebels. They do not get used as much as they had because of all the newer lures I have but they still produce. When I started Striper fishing in the early 1960's I had 3 lures, two sizes of Creek Chub Pikie Minnows, and a 8" or 9" Rebel which was used the most.

Your fishing style in as few words as possible (explanation allowed)
My favorite way of fishing is from a canoe in some quiet backwater spot. I enjoy sneaking into remote spots and then watching for a fish's movement and then fishing for it.
