armorall on rods

Featured Replies

hello, i read in the latest edition of ''BASSIN'' some people use armorall to protect the cork ? was wondering if anyone has done this? i remember when i was 16 i had a 1971 chevy nova and put it on the steering wheel and seats, i'll never do that again, would the rod slip out of your hand, and also wouldnt the fish smell or taste it when you put the bait on???    tia                                                      8-)

Armorall leaves an oily film behind and yes it will leave itself on your hands try using silicone spray it doesn't leave an oily film behind and will soak into the cork better.

STOP!!!!

Reelmech sells cork sealer on his site, go check it out, that small bottle does an amazing amount of rods, don't be fooled.  Great stuff if you want clean grips to stay that way.  Personally, that grime is "Karma" in my book. :)

Yes ArmorAll® on the grips will leave a slippery feel, especially when wet. The best way to keep the grips in pristine shape is to use U-40® Cork Seal.

Only one coat needed, doesn't change the feel of the cork, doesn't get slick when wet, a 2oz. jar will do dozens of rod grips.

Tight Lines All!

Don't use armorall on anything, even your car !! The U-40 cork seal works well and you can't hardly tell there is any coating on the cork.

I agree with Russ.  Dirty corks are earned.
