It doesn't seem possible to effectively cover that many engines in one manual. By example, the manual for my specific motorcycle is over 500 pages. How can I obtain a manual specific to my Merc XR6?

You might start at your local library and see what they have. A friend of mine couldn’t find one anywhere so he checked and the library had one. He was able to copy pages from it.
