02 May 2026 ~ 5.99 lbs of Northern Michigan Gold! (Video)

Splashed the Lund Pro-V Bass into a cleaner section of Lake Menderchuck this afternoon for a mid-afternoon run.

Despite both air and water temps lingering in the 40s, the sun was out and a stiff NW wind was pushing some serious energy onto the main lake edges.

Spent the first 30 minutes getting some "practice" in with keeper-sized fish on those wind-blown edges.

Once I dialed in the pattern, I made a tactical move to a spot where an 8-foot flat drops into deep water.

I ripped the jerkbait through, and it got absolutely hammered.

I knew immediately this wasn't just another "trophy-in-training."

After a valiant, heart-pounding battle, she finally slid into the Frabill.

A 5.99 lb beauty—my best of the year so far.

Moments like this almost make you forget about the long winter.

Almost.

That's a tank and a half!! You are the jerkbait master. You are really starting this year off with some giants!

Thanks - Mr 108 bass in two trips !

I might not catch 100 bass by August.

She was the right kind for sure.

Love seeing those videos sir!!

That is a great looking fish!! I will catch a smallmouth someday. I want to be in that smallmouth club. 😂

We have a very dirty and stained Rock River here in Northern Illinois with many different species so my goal is to get at least one this year. Kind of tricky being a bank angler on the river here, need to be careful where I go.
