these are some pretty nice little lures. they are very cheap, but they swim so good!!! they look just like those high dollar swimbaits! only thing is, they arent very durable. the segments are very thin and rip easily. i caught one bass on one, then i hooked into a 10lber (snapping turtle that is  ::)) i dragged that thing up on shore, and he was resisting arrest! he did NOT want to go on shore. i had some 50lb braid, so i wasnt worried about snapping the line, but finally the lure ripped out before i could get to it w/ pliers and half of the lure was gone ;) o well they are cheap, i just wish i bought more than one cuz i did catch a nice 2lber off it.

THanks for the feedback, I'm going to get some now, where do you get yours and what color?

i got one of those from gander mtn i got the red one for spawning season i'll most likely need to get more before january  ;)

Sadly, Wal Mart actually carries a lot of Storm's lures in the event that some of the other choice sporting goods stores don't carry them or if you don't have readily access to them. I grew up in the town where Storm lures are manufactured and don't know if it is still there. I can try and get in touch with some of my old buddies from there and if you really want them that bad, I can establish the contacts.

Dick's Sporting Goods carries them here....

dicks sporting goods and gander mtn carry them here in huntsville, but i cant kind the kicking tail minnow at the wal marts here.

...i had some 50lb braid,

This lure + braided line is not ideal due to the durability of the lure.  Wait until your braid digs in on itself a little, you toss the minnow out there and you only reel back the front segment.  It's happened to me twice ;)  Now I got a spare spool for my Zillion that I have mono on for this very reason.

thanks for letting me know that chris glad i was smart enough to fish the storms i have on cajun line  ;)

i usually reserve my braided line and leader for jig work. 8-)

I'm just glad I learned this lesson now before I shelled out any money for more expensive swimbaits :)

that makes you and i both chris  ;)  ;D ;D

why is that??? what do you mean by when the braid "digs in on itself"? do you mean in the knot or on the spool? in either case, how would that affect the lure? i didnt notice any problems.

well braid is super strong right but it can als cut or dig into the reel with increased preasure from swimbaits and cranks why this happens i dont know but mono is best used with swimbaits as i have found out

That can depend on the line size too. I've been using 65 and 80 lb braid for LARGE muskie lures and never had much of a problem with line digging in. Once in a blue moon? yeah, but then again not enough so it was an issue.

solo i belive you may be correct about the line size. what storm kick minnows does everyone like or use?

yeah these lures dont put up hardly any resistance in the water. its just like a normal shallow diving crank. ive never had the line dig in on any of my lures.

so far all ive tried is the 4" gizzard shad one, and i liked that. the 6" would be nice, but i didnt buy it cuz i didnt have a rod for it.

well i have a very fast action broom stick i could use with the 6 incher but haven't gotten any of those  ;) ;D ;D
