new to fishing all together
Welcome to the forum! You don't mention where you are, so to answer your query will be difficult. Since you are the den leader for your sons' troop(s) and all of their friends, I'd suggest in a generic manner, that private ponds (if you can get landowners consent), lakes, rivers, coastal areas (if you're close enough).

MAYBE THE DUMBEST LURE IVE EVER SEEN!!!!!
Perhaps that is all that it is.... a toy with a hook but if it will work, why not use it? LOL. I sat and wathced a TV show just about 45 minutes ago where a lady took a pink colored ear plug, stuck a hook thru it, feathered in a few blades of yellowish grass into the body, and stuck a brown leaf on the hook. She caught a pretty nice fish with it and had her dinner served to her by the guys she made a bet with.

CBs Hawgsauce
I just purchased 1 bottle of garlic water base & 1 bottle of garlic oil base from him. Neighbor and I took them out one day this week. Jury is still out on it right now and I won't give a final answer just yet but I will relate at least one experience where it may have actually worked. Just PM for me the details and you can start mulling it over a little before you buy it and try it. Why the PM? Because I am not ready to establish a public opinion about it just yet. Once I am convinced in either direction, I'll make a public posting about it. As for CB (Crossbow) himself. He seems to be a genuine guy. He'll even take a few minutes to e-mail you and personally let you know when it will ship to you. I found that pretty awesome.

storm kickin minnow
Sadly, Wal Mart actually carries a lot of Storm's lures in the event that some of the other choice sporting goods stores don't carry them or if you don't have readily access to them. I grew up in the town where Storm lures are manufactured and don't know if it is still there. I can try and get in touch with some of my old buddies from there and if you really want them that bad, I can establish the contacts.

MAYBE THE DUMBEST LURE IVE EVER SEEN!!!!!
It is rather odd but my supposition would be that there are many states where small bats still reside. Austin Texas is one these many places. So my thinking is that if perhaps one of these small creatures were injured while out chasing its forage and it ended up on top water flippin', floppin', etc.; why wouldn't a bass eat it? My guess is that they would.

is any one else having trouble
I went with my neighbor yesterday to Lake Sinclair here in GA so he could do a little pre-fishing for a tourney he has there this weekend. We took his boat over to some weedbeds right after we launched and I caught 1 bass about 12" long on a POP-R. That was the only catch for the day in 7 hours of fishing. He had a couple of bumps on a jig, 1 hit on a buzzbait and I had 2 more hits on the POP-R. Nothing was working and we switched as often as we could to T-rigs, Carolina rigs, etc. Only thing we did not try was crankbaits. Water temp was @ 85 degress at 6:30 AM. Water was stained with @ 2' visibility. My opinion for what it is worth is that it is just the wrong time of year to catch more than 1 or 2 at a time and may take you all day to catch those. Water temp is still too warm for the shallows, so just be patient, go out and cast just for the fun of it and when fall turns on, so will the bass. I'm no expert but this is just my opinion.

NAFC Question
Well I reckon I'm in for a treat then since I just joined the club myself. Wish I had known all this earlier. LOL.

custom soft plastics?
Haven't forgotten your request. I'll be going with him Thursday morning so he can pre-fish a lake for a tourney just to see how accurate the reports are concenring this lake. I'll talk with him while on our way and if he thinks he can help you out, I'll PM you his name and number. He doesn't have a website available just yet so you won't find him on the net. He's just recently started building his customer base but having talked with him and have recently cast a few of his versions or styles, I'm pretty impressed with them so far.

Big Worms
Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread in regards to my question above. The question just occurred as I read thru the thread.

Big Worms
Ok, now with all the talk about 10+ inch worms, would it be advisable to maybe add a stinger hook somewhere along the addtional length to increase potential hooksets?

clear or dark water
Stained to slightly muddy.

custom soft plastics?
I have a next door neighbor that MAY be able to help with this. He showed me a few of his versions of this lure to me just a couple of hours ago. I'll mention the request and see what he says.

Got any good fishing pictures?
I find it very honorable and extend my commendations to all of you that have the good fortune to partake of the opportunities to take your children/grandchildren fishing with you. Some of us are not as fortunate as you due to varying circumstances and it does me some good to see the photos posted here of the memorable times that you all have and will continue to have with them. Keep up the good work!

Does dye have any effect on fishing?
I'd say buy a couple of grass carp from a fishery/hatchery depending on the size of the pond and turn them in and let them foarge the vegetation rather than use a dye. Most likely they will have to re-stock the pond anyway so a couple of grass carp (or at least 1) may not hurt.
