  1. A .22 ought to be good enough
  2. Does putting dye in the pond to help control overgrown vegetation have any effect on the fishing?
  3. Yep. 66,000 for a team that averages something like 12,000 fans per game. If 10% of those 54,000 extra stick around, he'll have done his job and made the league and teams some good money in the process (not to mention adding almost 50% extra attendance per game). His endorsements and contract aside, he is really going to help MLS and soccer in America grow, regardless of the people determined to dislike it just because it's soccer. It'd be hard for anyone to say after watching the game between NYRB and Galaxy the other night that it wasn't exciting. Hell, most NFL games you dont see 9 touchdowns, but they got 9 goals at a soccer game. Good stuff (not the defenses ).
  4. The basis of why society makes things legal and illegal is because the majority have decided that some acts are bad for the people in a to be allowed to do and therefore punishment id mandated if an individual in the society knowing it is illegal violates the rules of the society. It is the principal of in order to have order there have to be rules and the rules have to be enforced otherwise anarchy rules as anyone can do whatever they want. You say bad things happen to animals every day; well bad things happen to people everyday also so does that mean no one should have a felony conviction for doing things to others, of course not. The simple principle is you choose to break the law, you choose to receive the felony convection if you do a felony crime. You break the law, you are to blame not the law, not society, not mommy, not daddy, and you are the one that a decision in your own mind of your own free will to go against societies laws. Like in Vicks case he was not even man enough to own up to his own actions but chose of his own free will to lie to try to get out of taking ownership of his own actions. Now that he was facing the possibility of facing even more time in prison and the loss of even more money he has decided to tell the truth and face up to his crimes which he could have avoided altogether by deciding killing dogs and fighting them to the death is not something he did not want to be associated with. Vick thought his money, celebrity, and connections placed him above the law and now he has found out they do not. The criminal persecution and its outcome will be costly lesson but only Vick is to blame because he financed the operation as he will plead this Monday. His life and reputation were all in his own hands and the results of this are his responsibility and his alone because he could have simply said NO. Yes I realize all of that and thought I made it clear. My problem is with the double standards on animal cruelty in America, not with the legal system. Hell, everyone on this site is cruel to an animal every time we catch a fish, but no one is saying we're the scum of the earth and deserve to be in jail.
  5. Yes, I said I dont see the difference in principle. I know what he did is illegal and he should go to jail because he knew it was illegal and did it anyway. What I don't understand is why he's going to be a convicted felon when things just as bad happen to animals every day. Hell, up until a month or so ago, cockfighting was legal in parts of America.
  6. It's a bit crazy to me that we have 2 murderers playing in the NFL and no one seems to care, yet Vick allegedly kills some dogs (he has not necessarily admitted to all allegations in the indictment yet) and everyone wants him banned for life. My opinion is they should wait to make a decision until he's served his time and we see what direction he takes his life in. If he does his time and gets out after his 85% time served on good behavior, joins forces with the PETA freaks or the Humane Society and truly shows remorse and tries to make a change for the better, then I think 1 year is enough. If he comes out worse off than when he went in or seems completely unaffected by the whole ordeal, then go ahead and give him 3 years to life.
  7. I've been shopping around for one for a while, and have looked on eBay, but I'm apprehensive about them since they're so cheap for the most part. Anyone have any suggestions? Specific ones, brands, any ideas are welcome.
  8. Maybe my mind is just warped, but I have a hard time seeing a difference (in principle) between holding a dog's head under water and pulling a fish out of water. I know the intent in Vick's (or one of his friends') case was to kill the dog, but plenty of people take the fish home and let them die in a cooler or on a stringer. Does that mean it'd have been okay if Vick ate the dogs? :-?
  9. I'm a little farther south but I can still vouch for you. It's been insanely hot for 2-3 weeks now so I haven't been able to do much fishing (when I have it was almost pointless). School started this week too, so the heat pretty much killed the last few chances of my summer to fish. I did schedule my earliest class MWF at 11am so I could go fishing before class when it cools down though.
  10. I have a jonboat with a paddle, so I'm a 'stay in one place for a long time' fisherman. I'm too lazy to paddle myself all around the pond. ;D
  11. That's awesome! I'll definately support your company in the future, just wish I wasn't out of town when you made this offer lol

Never woulda guess you were a (real) football fan, avid. "The beautiful game" is probably my number one passion in life, followed by American football and bass fishing. ;D I've been supporting Manchester United for 13 years now (I'm only 20).
  13. you know, now that you mention it my PB was underwater too. sorry ;D lol, probably should have said underwater stumps instead. My pond has a ton of stumps bother completely under water and sticking out.
  14. Nice fish! On my scale anything that ends in 15oz magically gets rounded up to the next pound. ;D
  15. Mine was suspended near some stumps underwater.
