An empty house looks strange. So is sleeping on an air mattress lol. Not great, but tolerable. We’ll be back home by the end of the week.

As long as it took crews to pack and load, I shudder at what awaits us! 😱

We’ve moved more than a few times, many internationally. I still have boxes (reused) from the first move in 2007. I definitely know the air mattress empty house feeling. Good luck!

Moving is such a task. The Odyssey should have been about a move!

Flew IAH-PHL with my wife and two cats on Thursday. Rented a SUV and drove 70 miles to my daughter’s house, dropped them off, drove back and flew back PHL-IAH the same day. Woke up Friday morning, packed what we left and started the 1,475 mile drive at 9:30 am. Reached Chattanooga late last night, slept 6 hours and hit the road at 8:20 am. Out of 1,475 miles, THE worst was 15 or so miles on I-495 around DC. I know people complain about traffic everywhere. But after 13 years of working in DC, I guarantee it’s in the Top Two nationwide. Seven accidents in that short amount of miles. You couldn’t pay me to live there!

But it’s done. My truck gets delivered tomorrow and the movers are due Monday. It’s good to be back home! I just hope my rods are unscathed!

Yahoo, Brian. I double down on my Odyssey comparison.

LMAO. Choosing between the shorter route (495 around DC) or the longer route (81N to 70E) was like Odysseus struggling to choose between Scylla and Charybdis.

I chose to volunteer sailors to expedite the trip!
