Flourocarbon or monofilament

Featured Replies

When should i use flourocarbon and when should I use monofiliamentand when should I use braided.  I do a lot of jig fishing and crankbaiting and worm fishing.  What line works best for these situations.  Also should i use a backing for all of these situations.

Thanks,

Pat

All lines have some "issues." One day there may be "The Perfect Fishing Line." So far the best "balance" of attractive attributes I have found is Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. The three features I like most are:

1. Manageability; in use the line has virtually no memory.

2. Strength

3. Abrasion resistance

If you are considering a pure fluorocarbon, I suggest trying the orginal Hybrid. The refraction index of this line is not perfect, but it is almost translucent and MUCH easier to work with than fluoro. I fish #4 (8.5 lb test) in the gin clear water of the White River in north central Arkansas. I fish the green tint and cannot see the line in the water. That's good enough for me.
