I've been using the 1/3 ounce Ozark Trails crankbaits for a few years and they seem to do as well or better than others when fishing the river spot I frequent. I'm not sure if they come through fast current better than others, or if the current masks their cheap nature, or if they are decent little crankbaits.

Walmart changed their design, and the new ones don't seem as good as the older ones. The new ones are a different type of plastic. The new ones have an opaque lip, while the older ones have a clear lip.

I do catch fish on the new ones, but it seems it's only because it's different than the other cranks that I throw, whereas, the older ones, there was days that they would only bite those.

I found a new old stock one in a lure box at Walmart today, and only gave $1 for it. I wish I could have scored a bunch when they made the change, but it happened so fast that I missed it.

I really haven't tried either version at any other place I fish, mostly because they are cheap and I don't have confidence in them working vs a more expensive or better looking lure. But honestly the old ones look good, and they ran true. They were $1.99.

Now I'm thinking, maybe I should really put this single old version through it's paces at the pressured lake I fish. Tie the hooks on, fish it with the same care and intent that I would fish a $10 lure.

It might be a sleeper lure, since they are out of production. There is still 1 source. On the shelves is a 5 pack of lures for $10, with 2 of those lures being these old style crankbaits. I could buy some of them and gift the other lures to some kids or to my own kid.

Does anyone else use, or have used, with good success these 1/3oz crankbaits?

I have used a few different O/T lures with success and will continue to do so. I know the hooks aren’t the greatest but I’ve had zero issues with them as well.
