Most Weedless Free Rig Weight

Featured Replies

Hello, I am looking for the most weedless free rig weight. When I use an open eye sinker, the weeds tend to get caught inside the eye. I fish waters with mossy, weedy, and grassy bottoms. Sometimes, the knot also gets caught. I've tried a bobber stopper but it makes the problem worse. Has anyone found any free rig weights that are almost as weedless as a texas rig? Looking at the OSP Sinker Direct right now but haven't tried it yet. Thanks!

What knot are you using? If it's a knot where the tag end goes against the weeds, it'll catch.

Edit: Oh, I see you want a super weedless Free Rig.

In this situation, I'd use a thin bobber stop (not the fatter, rounder version), a trilene knot, and a weedless widegap sliderhead.

I'm using a SDJ knot with fluro. When i use a bobber stop it catches more moss

If the vegetation is that severe I’d almost stop using truly bottom contact baits.

Have you tried moving to a bubba shot with a 3/8th weight and like 24 inches between the bait and sinker? Still near the bottom but who cares if the weight gets nasty.

I would echo others and say that I put the free rig down in thick veg.

Straight braid power shot is the move.
