Yes, another urchin post!

Was killing it on the urchin in early summer when the bass were fry guarding and patrolling bluegill beds. Recently, my lakes experienced a large hatch of shad and there are lots of schools of tiny 1-2 inch shad swimming around. I’ve noticed the urchin bite has really declined for me, except for a few random fish here and there.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or if the fish in my lakes are starting to wise up.

Have you tried changing to a baitfish color of urchin? Or maybe dropping down to a smaller bait like a 13mm on a dropshot. It's still one of the best options for me to catch bigger fish in the local lakes.
