Topwater rod

Featured Replies

What kind of rod do yall use for topwaters like sammys, spittin image and pop rs.

I use an older steelhead rod for my topwater baits. It's 8'-3" long and willowy. I use it because I'm prone to setting the hook too early. Since I started using it I haven't lost any topwater strikes. It's probably alot softer tip than most guys use, but it works for me.

I should add that I only use this rod for Pop-R's and Skitter Pop's, and prop baits. Not Sammy's and Spooks.

im running the st croix legened tourney bass ( top-water ) rod .... its sweet  ;D

I use a 6'6" Medium action All-Star American Classic for throwing topwaters in close quarters, but when I need really long casts I use a 7' Medium action Harold Eisley rod.
