Need help with new rod

Featured Replies

Hi, new to the forum and back into bass fishing after a 10 yr layoff.  Forgot how much fun it is.  I am in need of a new rod to go with my new Abu Garcia 4600 C3 reel.  I do not want to spend much, probably no more than $50, but do not know what the best buy for my money would be.

I fish with crankbaits, spinners, and plastics, so need a rod that would be kind of universal.  If you guys could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

FWIW, my other combos include a Pflueger Echelon, Shimano Corvailus, and Abu 5000 all on Berkley Cherrywood series.

Welcome aboard!

You'll get several suggestions in short order, but some of the best deals are in the "Flea Market" here at BassResource.com from time to time. Be patient and I'm sure you'll find a deal you like.

I'm probably gonna get shunned or maybe even kicked off for this but all I use is Ugly Sticks and love them. I had a Berkley Lightning rod many many years ago and liked it ok but I don't think you can get one without the cork handle now and I don't like cork for some reason. As a matter of fact I bought my Lightning rod back when they first came out and had a lifetime warranty. I can't comment on any other rods though.
