Daiwa Brake Question

Featured Replies

I have been trying to find out what the difference in Daiwa braking systems are. Does anyone know? I am assuming the "best" is Magforce V then Magforce Z then Magforce.

Thanks

Magforce Z is the latest version

Magforce V was second,

And Magforce the first.

If the version of the magnetic braking were the only factor in cast control, it would be correct to say that the newest is the "best".  It is not quite that simple however.  Different reel designs can make one system "better" in that application than another.  For example the Steez, which is the flagdship reel of the Daiwa line and weighs less than 6 ounces, uses Magforce V.  The heavier zillion which costs about $200.00 less uses Magforce Z.

A reel is an integrated system.  It would be a mistake to isolate one feature and make assumptions based on that.

But by choosing Daiwa over Shimano you have already demonstrated intellegence and good taste.   ;)

Different applications for different spools.

Magforce V for "V" shaped spools ( TDZ, Steez 103H/HL, Sol, TDX Super Tuned )

Magforce Z & Magforce for "U" shaped spools ( Steez 100H/HL, Fuego, Zillion, Viento, Procaster 6+1 )

But by choosing Daiwa over Shimano you have already demonstrated intellegence and good taste.

You was doing great till you put that in ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the insight but I don't want to start a Shimano war. I wish I could be loyal to one brand but there are so many great products on the market it is hard to pick a favorite.

It's difficult because there are many excellent products out there.

May I suggest that you do try and find a rod brand and reel brand that yoy prefer.

When you get into the equipment part of the game you realize that different companies have different characeteristics.  The rod building philosophy at Loomis is different than say daiwa or St. Croix.

Rods built by the same manufacturer have a familiarity to them even though you may use different models of the same brand.  This makes adjusting very easy.  It's one reason why alot of guys choose one or two rod comapnies for all their sticks.

Certainly...... ;D
