gulp worm help

Featured Replies

i havent had any success with the gulp worms. whats the best way to use this product?

Depends what worm your talking about.

I like the shakey worms on a standup or shakey head rig. Produced some nice smallies for me.

But if your talking a regular worm then I like to fish them weightless with a straight shank hook and let them drift down the current. For me there a smallie killer.

where i'll be fishing tmw theres no smallies only large mouth bass but its a regular worm black with red flakes thats the only gulp worm i have my dad got it for me and he said its a killer

If its water with little to no vegetation than just go with a 2x straight hook in a 4/0 size. Do not rig it texas style with weight or burying the hook. Just put the worm straight on your hook until the worm touchs the knot past the end of your hook.

Reel it in a couple of feet and let it sink for a couple of seconds. Repeat this procedure.

If there is vegetation than of coarse tex-pose it again weightless. I usually use a 3/0 hook for the worms. I do not use a wide gap hook though with the berkley worms. There not that thick.

Not too many times do I just reel it in at moderate speeds. I fish them slow with a stop and pause style.

Pretty much fish it anyway you want as long as your not burning it. Berkleys line has always produced nice fish for me. Hence the avatar supporting them.

Davis,

Please take a moment to read a PM I sent to you.

whats the best way to use this product?

The absolute best use of Gulp is to sell it to somebody that doesn't know that it is no good and use the money to buy Zoom worms.   ;)  Seriously, I hate the stuff, I only catch catfish, bream, and snapping turtles with it.  Not a single bass.

I'll be honest when I say that the original powerworm formula is a lot better.

At least for me.

I may have caught that nice smallmouth on the gulp.....but definately not as many fish as the regular formula.

you know ive thought of doing just that those berkley gulp worms i have are brand new to

I have only recently began using the gulp worms. I have caught (1) 2.5 lb LMB and (1) 3.5lb catfish with them. I would say the jury is still out deliberating at this point in time as I want to make sure I give them an honest effort. I have also tried the senkos and have not caught anything with them yet.  I have also had a lot of good hits with them and have not set the hook properly.

Gulp! can attract bass.

Gulp! will attract catfish.

And bream.

I fish it Texas rigged; weightless; and wacky.

Caught some nice bass on it but the bream hits will drive you nuts.

Have a face cloth or a clean rag so you can get it wet to store the bait when not in use. Otherwise the Gulp! will get very hard and it can be useless.

I throw a Gulp! when the bite dies or just to see if there are any catfish around. ;)
