Interested in buying a Daiwa Viento

Featured Replies

I was looking through a few of my fishing magazines and i came across the daiwa viento.

I read about it but reading isnt the same as using it. So i just wondered if anyone here owns one or has tried it out.

If i get a lot of positives i will purchase it.

Thanks Again in advance

I got one during the spring classic at bps. So far I like it, use it for jigs mostly. Tried it for topwaters but the twichen bar didnt create the right action.  Makes jigs bounce great though. When you twich it is makes it puff up the shirt in what I think is a nice action. Going to try plastics with it soon. Somtimes just fun to twich the bait back in.

I have 2 of them. One of them works well and I like to use it for jigs and soft plastics. The more I use it the more I find myself not using the "twitching bar". Don't get me wrong, the twitching bar is great for a slow presentation, I just find myself being too impatient to use it for great lenghts of time.

The other reel has developed a problem with the cast control knob. It works, it just seems to be a lot more finicky when trying to adjust it.

I do the like the reel. I'm glad I have one...I really don't need two of them.

I do like to use them on a Fluke.  I just retreive with the twitching bar, it gives great action in little short lenghts.

A guy on Bass Fishing Homepage has one like new with box and papers for $135!

ThaKing,

Before you do that take yourself out to one of the many tackle shops you have out there, and pick one up for yourself and feel the reel in your hands, even take a rod and place it on the rod to feel the total balance the your rod and that reel will have. Don't go by just any recommendations you get here, as they are all personal preference..

BTW before you go running off to the website that cart7 has mentioned, be sure you have a spy ware protection program on your machines. That site leaves at the very least 8 spy parasites on my machine every time I view it. I have posted a warning about this before...

Tight Lines!!!!

Thanks for the offer but I'm good friends with the fishing vendor who stocks up our store and he can get me anything at warehouse price.

The Viento comes up to be 120 so its not much im paying.  Im also getting the Quantum Energy PT, im trying to try different brands because

i've only used shimano and plfueger.

Thanks alot though

man if you can get a deal on the diawa reels ,,, id look at the fugo ...... i just got one ,,, she a sweet reel .... i just dont like that twitching bar,, otherwise id more than llikely get a viento

I bought mine last October.  It was my first baitcast reel and I was impressed with it.............until I bought myself a Curado and a Revo.  The Curado and the Revo can cast a lot further than the Viento.  So, it really depends on what you are going to use it for.  For me, I now use the Viento for my drop-shotting (minimal casting needed) and I'm satisfied with it, specially that I can use the twitchin bar for the subtle presentations.  If you will use it for T-rig or crankbaits (where you do a lot of casting), I think you will be disappointed (if you have other baitcast reels like the Curado or Revo).
