What is the longest that someone here has used a Pflueger spinning reel.  Please God forgive me, but I am actually considering buying a Pflueger.  I am looking for a high line capacity, light wieght, high speed spinning reel.  The stradic 4000 is too heavy and the Tierra 3000 is too slow.  The supreme 8035 looks great on paper.  I know the supreme is a new reel, but how is the long term durability of thier other spinning reels?.  I would appreciate any info you have.

I have owned one medalist, great reel but i gave it to a buddy of mine who really loves it.

Now I have and do own Several TRIONS and Presidents. And i have on Shimano Stardic, thanks to a generous gift from Road Warrior

The Trions are 6 years old, i basically use them for pond fishing so they stay in the trunk of the car on a two pice rod getting the crap banged out of them and have been dropped,kicked and toutured and not a SINGLE PROBLEM NONE

The PRESIDENTS, is my favorite Spinning Reel, I have made the Jump to baitcasting so I gave away 2 of them and I still have the first one I bought and it never once has failed me and it has been fished hard

The President is a graphite frame but i have lliterally caught 100's of Bass,Pike and Pickrel with this reel and it is just fine SWEET DRAG

I have fished the Stradic for a while The PRESIDENT is a better reel in my opinion. The action is tighter, the drag is smoother, and the President is 40 bucks LESS!!!!!!!!

obviously it depends on what your using it for.. but no one knows for certain how long the supreme will last since its new.  In my experience... with big fish that put a strain on a reel... if your looking for a reel to last you a while it doesnt not start with a P.  I would check out the stradic MG, its a proven winner.

If Muddy "The Duke of Mook" has used these for years and has not had any problems you know it's gotta be durable........you just have to understand what a mook can do to mess up equipment.......if it can survive years of Muddy it's gotta be really durable!  

I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD MEDALIST THAT WAS DUNKED AND NOT RELUBED UNTIL THE END OF THE FIRST SEASON AND HAS DONE BATTLE WITH NUMEROUS 4 AND 5 LB LARGEMOUTH IN THE WEEDS AND IT'S THE SMOOTHEST SPINNING REEL I HAVE EVER OWNED.

do not let salt get on a scratch on a magnesium reel.all scratches much be touched up.salt will eat magnesium.

I use a medalist for surf fishing. It has caught dozens of 5-14lb bluefish and battled striped bass up to the 20lb range.  Everytime I cast it out I crank in large wooden plugs weighing 2-3 ounces or sinkers and bottom rigs up to 6 ozs. It is also subjected to salt spray, sand, and being smacked occasionally on jetty rocks. Its been dunked in saltwater 2 times. Still works fine after about 2 years. It might have lost a little smoothness but I find that understandable. Some cite this reel for durability issues but this has not been my experience.

I fish exclusively with Pflueger Presidents and Trions on freshwater only and love them.  BTW,  Muddy can easily screw up a 500 pound steel wrecking ball, so if his reels have worked so well for him for so long, that is indeed a testament as to the durability of a Pflueger.
