Fenwick

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any opinions/feedback on Fenwick rods?  Is the Venture an older model? Where does it fall in their line in terms of quality? Thanks.

I don't have that particular rod but do have some HMGs.  I bought them several years ago and really like most of them.  I have heard some stories about Fenwick quality going down since they were bought out by Berkley.

I picked up a combo the other day, paired with an Abu Garcia spinning reel. Felt great in my hand, light weight, balanced. I haven't used it yet, I wanted to get some feedback on the rod first.

Take it out and use it, then give us YOUR thoughts on the combo.

Tight Lines!!!

I've been using Fenwick rods for quite a while now, and I will put them up against any rod brand.  I have used Eagle GT's, HMX's, and now I own several Techna AV's.   I have used GLoomis, All Star, and St. Croix, and they are all great rods, but I have been just as satisfied with my Fenwicks.  I would put them on the same level as Loomis IMX, but usually at a better price.  They are light, strong, and have great sensitivity.  Also, I recently snapped off about 8 inches of one of my Techna AV's and I had to pay $55 to get the rod replaced, which I believe is comparable to Loomis replacement policy.

The Ventura was their lowest priced rod before the Eagle GT's came out I have used every class of Fenwick rod They are all fine rods.  ;)

I have several Ventures and like them ...............due to the fact I paid $9 each for them NEW when my local wal-mart had them on clearance. I also had a  Techna AV........that rod was super nice, but I had guide issues with it, and had sent it back 3 times, and after each time a differant guide would fail, it sits in my attic, some day I will have the blank stripped and new guides put on it. I also had an Eagle GT fished the heck out of it for a 2 seasons, nice rod for the price.
