Surface lures and flourocarbon

Featured Replies

i recently spooled one of my baitcasters with xps flourocarbon and i was throwing a chug bug on it yesterday.  I wasnt gettin the action out of the lure like i wanted to.  do you folks think its because the line sinks faster than mono?  should i go back to mono on my topwater rod or not?

I always throw topwaters on mono. The flouro sinks the nose of the bait down, so its action isnt as good.

Flouro sinks so u wont get the desired action with ur bait-nothing beats the boyancy of mono

try using braid instead. braid floats better than anything else and ur baits get better action than with mono. Just make sure ur not using a stiff rod, anything in med. to med.light is perfect for topwaters and braid.

For me braid is to limp and wraps around the hooks all the time, the only time I use braid for topwaters is frogs.
