Avid vs. Powell

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried both and can give a good opinion on which one you would choose. Mainly fishing Senko's . Senile 1 made the Powell suggestion and several other tournament fisherman has suggested.

Well I met Avid and he is just about one of the greatest human beings on the planet as for This Powell guy, never heard of him!

Price is the same.  The Powell 683c baitcasting rod is lighter and more sensitive.  I also have a Powell 703MEF spinning rod and it is similar to the baitcaster in sensitivity and lightness.  These are my opinions only, but I think if you can get your hands on both rods, you will notice the difference as well.

Having said this, the Avid is a great rod in its price range.  I just like the Powell better.

I think fourbizzle has some Powell rods also.  I don't know if he has compared them with the Avid.

I have had a chance to fish both.

I have fished a 7 ft medium heavy Avid quite a bit. It is a nice rod.

I have a few Powells. I would not buy any other rack rod.

I honestly like them more than GLX's although they are a bit heavier. Between the Avid and the Powell, that is a no contest in my mind.

So do you have an opinion on Avid vs. Powell?

LOL! NO JOKE!!!

Get the Powell!

I would also choose the Powells over the Avids. But I have to say that Croix is better with Warranty that I have found thus far. I have a handful of friends that have had rods sent in for warranty for several months now and no luck.
