Hi everyone i am looking into buyin a pflueger echelon and i want to know how it performs. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.

it has a graphite frame.i would never buy a reel with a graphite frame.go for a trion narrow spool.

they are great for one year then they go out even with carfull maintance  i have owned three and all have had numeros problems

Hey Pflueger are my favorite reels I would strongly advise you to do what Dodgeguy says here and save a bit more and hold out for the TRION. It's the best reel I own and it is light years better than the Eschelon

what about the pflueger supreme or summit are they as good as people say they are??

i have a trion and a president.both are fine reels.the supreme and summit are even nicer.

the echealons were the smoothest reels i ever used right up till they broke so i will also go to the trion i see a ton of good reviews on them, i believe the echelon reels are the entry level for pflueger.

Do NOT buy an echelon. I did and it was a huge mistake. IMO they are one of the worst reels on the market (any price range)

Around $80 on ebay gets you a brand new Pflueger Trion narrow spool shipped. I own one and it is a VERY smooth reel and holds a ton of line. Good luck

I would do as others suggest and purchase the Trion.  I own a Summit (great reel), a President (great reel), and will probably drive a Supreme before long.

I am really impressed with Pfluegers lately.

Is this the Trion you guys are talking about? I need to get a reel that does 4, 6, and 8lb line for my medium light 6ft Avid Rod. was thinking on this one, then you guys mentioned Trion and I just wanted to make sure I am looking at the same Trion you guys are talking about that is good.

no,we are talking baitcasters.i wouldn't buy that one either.ithas a graphite frame.i wouldnever buy any reel by anybody with a graphite frame.the medalist or supreme are pfluegers good spinning reels.they have metal frames.graphite flexs, twists and breaks causing gear mis alignment and other failures.

This is the onlyu area I disagree with DodgeGuy, he has always lead me right. I have to state that I have both Trion and especially my favorite spinning reel PRESIDENT and neither have ever shown any of these misalignment problems. One of them has also caught some small strippers and a few Cocktail Blues( Under 10 lbs) off the rocks in the Verrazano Strits in Brooklyn without a single failure!!!!!!

I must a got the odd one of the bunch. I've had my echelon for quite some time(over a year) and have had no trouble at all with it.

I bought an echelon a few years ago and it's horrible. At that point, I didn't realize how much of difference there would be between low-end and middle-to-upper end reels. I saved up and bought the president and supreme baitcasters, and they are a world of difference! I really like them.

The only problem I have with Pflueger is trying to figure out where to have my reels serviced. No one in my area will touch Pflueger reels for some reason.   :-/

Thank you all for  your help. I ended up going with the pflueger summit and it is awesome. I already own a trion so i wasn't surprised with the summit's performance.
