Alternatives for the Magic Shad swimbait

Featured Replies

Fellas,

This is my most productive swimbait but it just tears apart so easily.  After maybe two-three bites it just isn't any good.  I really like this bait but I'm getting tired of picking up new ones at Wal-Mart all the time.

What other swimbaits have this same type of action but are more durable?

None. If you think those are fragile than God you never purchased the original one ( Magic Shad is a knock off ), the Imakatsu Javallon, sneeze hard on it and it breaks.

I guess I'll just stick to the old super glue trick until it can't be glued no more.

Besides, they are not THAT expensive, saw them in WalMart in my last trip to MacAllen and at 2 bones pre rigged with a jighead compared to the Javallon,I see it as a good price, Javallons cost 15 dollars a pack of 5 plus 3 dollars shipping ( 3.60 ea ).

Brannan 's Bass Shop has the 4.5" pack of 4 baits @ $4.89 ( non rigged )

Don 't know about you but 13 dollars difference LMS vs Javallon sure is one neck of a deal  :) and no other bait swims like it.

I carry all three sizes in the webstore and eBay store.

6 pack of the 3 1/2" and 4 packs oft he 4 1/2" are $4.89

3 pack of the 5 1/2" is $5.29.

Also, BassResource.com members get 10% off those prices.

So, if you have hard time finding the 6, 4 or 3 packs, let me know.

Also, how are you rigging these?  I use the 4 1/2" size 90% of the time and I use the 4/0 Mustad Impact Ultra Lock hook and get several fish on one bait.  Most of my fish almost swallow this bait.  So far, I have only had two baits get ripped apart this season.
