BPS Crankin' Stick

Featured Replies

I'm not a big crankbait fisherman, but I do use them some. I do not own a crankbait specific rod, but I've got a little money back on my BPS card and was thinking of picking up a Bass Pro Shops Cranking stick. This would be paired with an Abu C4.

Anyone use this rod? Is it decent, or a waste of $30?

Thanks in advance.

I have three of them.  Absolutely one of the best bargains out there and they are absolutely one of the best rods I've ever thrown a crankbait on.

I realize it's "just" a crankbait rod, but I'm stoked to read good reviews about a $30 rod. I'll be picking one up shortly.

I'm very happy with mine. In fact I have a 4600 C4 on mine also. It's a great rod, especially for that price.

Cart and Falcon, I would like to get this rod also, was wondering what action and length you guys prefer?

if you could tell the the exact model that would be nice also..I will only get one so it should be the best one to serve me shallow and deep cranking..thanks -wm

I use this rod to throw cranks in 10+ feet of water.  For deep cranking, I think long casts are important to maximize the time at the desired depth.  For this, I got the 7'6" MH since the deep divers can range from 1/2 - 3/4 oz.

For shallow and deep cranks, a 7' M would probably be the best compromise that would allow you to throw both.

I have a 6' medium action and a pair of 6'6" mediums.  Don't know the exact model numbers.
