Reel Value

I just checked my 1996 BPS catalog, one of the last years the reel appears there. It originally sold for $146.95 back then!!  :)

Obviously a good reel at the time but any of them out there will be 10 years or older now.  Checking my records I've sold a couple over the past 2 years for $40-60.  There's a few on Ebay right now.  One has a $75 buy-it-now which seems a little steep.

I'm impressed that you keep that level of detail on stuff you sell.  If I tell someone I have to check my records, I have to either think a minute or find the "post it" note.  ...lol

$146.95? that's pretty high for a reel, I still love the TD2HI reel.

For a TD2HI Tourny Series Reel in excellent shape, what would you pay for it today?

$146.00 back then wasn't much for one of Daiwa's cadillacs. Today (because the reel has been discontinued) I wouldn't pay more than $60.

So you wouldn't pay up to $110 for this reel below on eBay?

The reel in your post is in outstanding condition for it's age.  You gotta remember on vintage reels of this caliber that you've got reel collectors bidding on it as well as guys who will actually use the reel for everyday use.

IIRC, the one I sold for $60 was in outstanding condition.  Not as good as the one listed but close.

alabamabassman,

Like Cart7, that reel looks to be in A1 condition, thus the reason for the high bid. Probably a few collectors driving the price up. For an angler using the reel day to day, I wouldn't pay over $60, just to bulky and heavy.

One other point, they aren't as extra smooth as has been hyped in that e-bay write up.

Just my .02¢

Tight Lines!!!

Okay! Thanks guys, just wanted some expert advised because I thought that was way too high to be 10 years old. It looks great but still, it's an older reel.

Thanks!
