Re: Shimano Question

Featured Replies

This is the reel I learned on.  For the first few months, I fished plastics (Mainly senkos) exclusively.  I had no problem throwing them.  It's a great little reel for the money (I got it at BPS combined with the BPS extreme 7' MH).  you'll be happy

i have the citica 200D (didnt want the DSV cuz of the over sized handles and it didnt have certain features that i wanted) and i fish everything on it. about 75% of my fishing is soft plastics, mainly senkos. this reel performs great! i love it so much. really beats the hell out of the procaster that i had been throwing.

I have one Citica 200D and five  Citica 100 Ds.  The 200 was the first Shimano that I have ever used.  I love it but like the 100d better because it is lighter.  I use my 200 on my carolina rig rod and have had it for over a year and a half.  It has never let me down.

Thanks for all the input, you guys have made this purchase much easier

If you like a lighter, smaller reel that gives up nothing for it, try the Citica 100DSV.  I love those things, and they seem to cast a bit better than the 200s.

Well Gentelman, I went to Sportsman Warehouse today and purchased the Citica 200DSV.  And all I can say is WOW.  When I was growing up my Grandfather taught me to use baitcasters with an ambasador 5500, and the round baitcasters were all I have been using since.  Once I got this citica set up right for my soft plastics, I dont even have to feather the spool that much.  I am completely sold on Shimano reels now and will be going back next week to purchase another one.  Thanks for all the input

ive got an ambassaduer 5500 and that thing is no comparasion to the citica. if you can set the cast control knob right, then i can only have 1-2 brake weights set and cast a senko 60+ feet with out even having to touch the spool.
