  1. I agree with all of the above. I can't wait to get my hands on the Denal 5x3 rod though.
  2. I second a Denali Jadewood. I use the 7 foot MH crankbait rod for my square bills.
  3. Kustom Kicker Jig Dock Monkey with Zoom Speed craw.
  4. I make most of the ones I use. Hidden head 1/2 oz for all of my spinnerbaits. Double or single Colorado if it's cold or in murky water. Tandem and double willow in stained to clear water. My color choices are simple. chartruse in murky water, white/chartruse in stained, white in lightly stained, and clear/white in clear water. Gold blades in murky or real cloudy day. Silver blades on all other conditions.
  5. BPS Excel for mono, Power Pro for braid, and Seagur for floro.
  6. I went down the floro road this past year. I experimented with just about every brand. For me I like an easy casting line so I really liked Seagur invix. Suprisingly it was very abrasion resistant. If I were rich that is the line that I would buy. Floro is sooooo sensitive, but I really didn't catch any more fish on it than mono. So I tried some copolymers, specifically Yo-Zuri Hybrid ultra soft and P-line Cx premium. I really liked the Yo-Zuri, but I could only order it from Cabelas. My boss (wife) gets tired of me oredering off of the internet so I needed a fishing line source that I could just go to the store and buy. I went back to Cajun Red Cast mono that I had used the previous year and plan on using it this year. Out Wal-mart carries Cajun Red cast so it is very easy for me to "go buy grocieries" and end up with a 10years supply of fishing line and the boss never knows about it. I will use a little Power Pro Braid for swimming jigs, flipping vegetation, and frogs. I think all lines have their pro's and cons but mono is less expensive and does just as good a job as floro in my opinion. I not a chepo by any means (all my rods are G-loomis and reels Shimano) but I want my monies worth. That extra money for floro just doesn't pan out in my opinion. Cajun Red Cast is very abrasion resistant, very castable, and has enough sensitivity for me. Be warned when you start experimening with line you won't be able to stop.
  7. I use grubs on some homemade football head jigs with a spring bait keeper and I use them on a carolina rig.
  8. I'm getting a garmin etrex lengend cx for Christmas. I was looking and the maps that are available and found the inland lakes cd and the card for inland lakes for the southcentral region (I live in Oklahoma). How do you know what lakes are on the maps? Does it show every lake with contour lines or just a select few? If I can't find out what lakes are on the maps then I may take it back for a lowrance ifinder h20 becasue the navionics website and lowrance website tells you what lakes are on their software. Are there other software maps that work in the garmin? If so then can you look up what lakes are on there?
  9. The mold is the shake it jig mold model number SRH-6-A and stock number 473430.
  10. I just got my first jig mold in. It is the Do - It shakey head mold 473430. It says on the 3/16 and 1/4 oz slots hook size 4/0. Can I use a 3/0 hook in those slots? Will the jig turn out okay? Also are the Gamakatsu 60' (614) that much better than the Mustad 32798BLN? Are the Mustad hooks just as sharp and thin as the Gamakatsu? Thanks for replies
  11. Loomis all the way. You can't beat the $50.00 no questions asked warranty.
  12. I have one Citica 200D and five Citica 100 Ds. The 200 was the first Shimano that I have ever used. I love it but like the 100d better because it is lighter. I use my 200 on my carolina rig rod and have had it for over a year and a half. It has never let me down.
  13. In my opinion G-loomis gl2 and gl3 are not overpriced. What other rod company will replace a rod no questions asked for $50.00? I had a gl2 for over ten years and my two year old son got ahold of it and broke the rod tip. In a few days I had a new rod shipped to my door. I may be missing something and please correct me if I am wrong, but when paying over $100.00 for a rod I want a dang good warranty.
  14. Roadwarrior thanks for the suggerstions on the Yo Zuri ultra soft. I ordered some from Cabela's and spooled it up today. I got 12lb that I paired up with a Shimano Curado 100D and a 783 GL2 G-loomis rod that I will use for jigs and soft plastics. I also spooled up some 8lb on a Shimano Citica 100D and a 852 Mossyback G-loomis that I use to cast shakeyheads and small texas rigs. Both lines casted extremely well, no memory, and the abrasion was very good. I have expieremented with several lines for the past few months and for the money this seems to be the best choice for me. I plan on using it on all of my other rods/reels as well.
  15. I use Bite Me ball heads that I paint myself and a Zoom Trick worm usually in green pumpkin. I usually nibble off about 1/2 to 1 inch of work off before I t-rig it on the hook. I am a power fisherman first and foremost, but learned to have confidence in the shakey head the last couple of years. It has no doubt helped my catch total and has saved the day in many tournaments.
  16. Strike King series 1 and Strike King series 4 extra shallow.
  17. I use Norman speed clips because I can change crankbaits quickly. When tournament fishing or fishing for fun I use a lot of crankbaits untill I find the right color, action, etc. So I may switch several crankbaits in one day.
  18. Has anyone tried it? What is it like. I just now noticed it in the Cabela' catalog. It is pink which I don't like, but it says it is soft and supple and has great abrasion resistance. Thanks in advance for replies.
  19. I use Norman Speed Clips on all of my crankbaits. I take the split rings off of the crankbait and hook the norman speed clip right on the eye. You can get them at Bass Pro Shops and several other places. I have never lost a fish because of the speed clip.
  20. I second that RoadWarrior. Shimano Curado or Citica!
  21. This is my favorite technique. Whenever I find emergent vertical vegetation, I always try and swim a jig through it. MY favortie type of vegetation is water willow. I use the BPS Moonsor swim jig with a H&H swamp frog. I bite off about a 1/4 of an inch of the frog. This is a great technique.
  22. I fish the Strike King series 1 crankbait for my shallow cranking about 80% of the time that I am crankin. In clear water I like the rootbeer and in stained water I like white with a black back or firetiger.
  23. Thanks for the link, but yes I've read the review, I just wondered how some of you were doing with it.
  24. How many of you guys have tried the skinny dipper. What did you think? How did you rig it? What was your most successful retrieve? I just got some and haven't had a chance to use them yet.
