weightless plastics rod

Featured Replies

since what i plan on fishing most often on my new rod is weightless plastics (senkos and power worms and stuff) i was wondering if this would be a good rod for it. everything looks appealing to me except it looks like it might not be stiff enough for a good solid hookset. ive heard from several people here that its a great rod and it got a good score on tackletour.

its either this or the powell rod:

Those Crucials are sweet rods, very light and sensitive. However, I would also look at the G-loomis GL2

it's only $10 more than the crucial at $140. I have 2 6'6" MH Gl2's and use them for everything from

cranking to throwing weightless trickworms and senkos, great rods for the money!

I really like the Shimano Crucials.  Excellent rod for the price.  I don't have the drop shot model, but I do have the CRCX66M and use it primarily for my trap rod.  My last time out I used it for throwing a weightless 5 3/4" Fin S Fish and that worked really well.  Great rod!!  If I was you I'd go with the CRC66MH instead for what you plan to use it for.

I also have a Loomis GL3 and I don't think it's quite as sensitive as my Crucials are.

i think im gonna go with the powell. i'll be using the rod for stuff other than weightless plastics (small'medium jigs and stuff too) so i think the powell would be a better choice.

rw, thats just not the type of rod im lookin for  :-/

Why not? that's just about the perfect Senko rod. I have one, and that's exactly what I use it for.

Cheers,

How come?  :-?

I have this rod, I use it for finesse jigs and weightless soft plastics. I highly recommend it for these techniques.

well for one its 6'8 and i want 7'. i also want split grip and no front grip. now i know the crucial has a front grip but thats a exception  ::). thats about it.

but i think im gonna go with the powell for a good general purpose single hook rod. and maybe later after i get a job and have some money i will pick up a crucial for finesse fishing.

Good for you.

You have put in the time to research what you need.

I was just making a suggestion on a well priced rod.

Good luck!

what do you mean they dont have sizes and if you go with loomis you have a rod for life they have imho the best rod warranty on the market you step on your rod close it in a car door get mad break it in half call up loomis and for $50 they will get you a new rod on your doorstep no questions asked and you just have to take the broken rod put it in the rod tube and drop it off at fed-ex no hassel and they make one heck of a rod, just my 2 cents

I think you are just looking for a purdy rod.  If you want a rod for looks go get one from Reel Mech.
