NEW Daiwa Megaforce Humming ... Help!

Featured Replies

Reelmechanic,

I'm new to this board, and it's probably been brought up before, but what reels do you like and dislike?  Since you get to see broken reels all the time,  is there a particular reason to stay away from a particular Daiwa, Shimano, Abu, etc.??

Ryan_Johnson,

Well welcome to the forum!

All of the manufacturers that I service (Garcia, Shimano, Daiwa, Quantum) build quality reels, and there are really no reasons to stay away from any of their products. The reason for most reel failures isn't the manufacturer fault, it is lack of individual maintenance on the anglers side. Buy a 150 dollar reel and think it can be used and treated like a 60 dollar reel, and it will hold up just like one. Treat it with the respect that the high end reels of today deserve and it will out live the angler.

Just my .02¢

I tried a couple of these reals and the one in the case hummed and I had the guy get another one off the shelf and tried it and it sounded good I would just try another one.

You guys sure like to dig up old posts.   ;)

I was rid of this reel 3 weeks ago.  I returned it, and got a Daiwa Tierra.
