I see a lot of guys loading there reels up with 65 to 100lb braid. I quess my question is why? Should 30lb braid not be strong enough to pull any bass that swims out of cover. I am looking at switching everything over from 50lb power pro to 30lb sufix.

Has anybody had a lot of break offs with 30lb sufix?

depends on the rod you are using.  a flippin' stick or sometimes even a mh 7 ft. rod will snap 30 lb. braid pretty quick on a good hard hookset.  i'd stick with the 50lb. for jigs and plastics.  the 30 lb. should be o.k. for other things.  that's just me though.  i'm sure you're gonna get a lot of different answers on this one.

The higher pound test braids are normally used for very heavy vegetation/timber presentations or when fishing for very large fish like 40#+ catfish and stripers in fresh water and ocean species. 65# is very popular with the top water frog fishing at Guntersville.  

the higher pound tests also resist digging into your spool better.it also takes less braid to fill the spool.it also brings you into the same diameters as mono lines so the lift on your bait due to the line will be similar.65 pound sufix is like 17 pound mono.this is nice for keeping your rattletraps up above the weeds.

They always say use the highest # test you can get away with.  I use 50# suffix and will bend big owner hooks before breaking the line.
